Mori Building Co., Ltd. will launch their annual Christmas Illumination event again this year, which is very popular among their visitors every year.
With the Lighting-up Ceremony at Keyaki-zaka on November 4 as the beginning, 66 Plaza and Mouri Garden at Roppongi Hills will be decorated with white shining lights, and Tokyo City View will organize the Christmas event in the sky called "Sky Illuminations". At Omotesando Hills, in addition to the beautiful twinkling lights inside the building, illuminations along Omotesando will give special impressions to the visitors that will be shown for the first time in eleven years. Other facilities including ARK Hills, VenusFort and the Shanghai World Financial Center will also add some colors to the seasonal event with their unique illuminations.
Green energy is being used for those at Roppongi Hills, Omotesando Hills and ARK Hills. We are participating in the "Green Christmas Festa" of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and aiming to produce environmentally friendly illuminations.

The theme of the 7th Christmas event at Roppongi Hills is "Enchant the town with a magic spell. The white Christmas at Roppongi Hills." The town is decorated with white twinkling lights as if it has been under a wonderful magical spell. During the event, Christmas-related art, fashion, gourmet and gifts will offer an excitement-filled special time of the visitors. Ooyane Plaza will hold the 3rd "Christmas Market", which provides the same atmosphere of those in Germany. Moreover, Tokyo City View, an observatory facility where the beautiful night views of Tokyo metropolitan can be seen, will offer a special Christmas event in the sky called "Sky Illuminations", at which a floral Christmas tree consisting of decorative Christmas presents are displayed for the first time to color the beautiful night view.

■Keyaki-zaka Illumination SNOW & BLUE
White and blue LED (light-emitting diode) lights, placed along the 400-meter long Roppongi Keyaki-zaka Street, produce a fantastic scene of illuminations. The colors appear to be as if pure white snow turns into fluorescent crystal with shining blue color. The illumination creates a snowy forest atmosphere and attracts the visitors with the shining lights necessary at this time of the season.

■ 66 Plaza Illuminations
66 Plaza, a main entrance of Roppongi Hills, welcomes its visitors to the "Magical White World" with snow-like white illuminations. The white lights shine so gently you would think that snow was falling from the sky above the symbol Mori Tower and landing softly on the trees. The atmosphere leads the visitors to the fantastic Christmas world.

■ Mouri Garden Illuminations
At Mouri Garden, which is a green-rich oasis in Roppongi Hills, the "Metropolitan Trees" is displayed. The garden appears to be covered with white snow and it looks like the ice crystals of the magical snow create an "ice city" on the water that is 4-meter high from the water surface.

■ Christmas at Tokyo City View, an observatory facility
Tokyo City View x J-WAVE (81.3FM) Christmas in the sky "Sky Illumination 2009"
At Tokyo City View, where you can enjoy a sweeping night view of the Tokyo metropolitan, special Christmas time will be arranged in the sky with the Flower Cubic Tree and the beautiful night view. The tree was designed by Nicolai Bergmann, whose work is famous and is a fantastic combination of Scandinavian and Japanese styles. The Sky Deck, the highest outdoor observatory in Japan, will offer the best illumination of the night view to the visitors and provides a "Love Blanket", which was very popular among couples last year. Moreover, in the "Happy Girls Project", a fun project will be launched for the first time this year, groups of girls will receive small Christmas presents including refreshments and their original goods. Other events include a live show produced by J-WAVE (81.3FM), which is a regular Christmas event, and special Christmas menu at a bistro in the sky, "Mado Lounge".

[ Flower Cubic Tree ]
Nicolai Bergmann, who's "Flower Box" has made him famous in the flower design world, has produced "Flower Cubic Tree" placed at Tokyo Tower (on Odaiba side). The artist, who has grown up in the Santa's native land of Nothern Europe, has presented the tree using decorative boxes of Christmas presents with traditional Christmas colors of green, red and gold, which gives warm feelings to the visitors. His artistic trick, in which every box has a different design, gives various appearance to the tree and the viewers can enjoy it in different angles.

■ Christmas Market 2009
The Hills' Christmas Market is the only one in Tokyo that provides a similar atmosphere to Germany at this season. The main venue of Ooyane Plaza has garlands made of fir trees and stalls with pretty decorations such as angels and Santa Claus. Green electricity is used for the market.

Omotesando Hills : Hearty Christmas in Omotesando Hills

With the event named as "Hearty Christmas in Omotesando Hills," Omotesando Hills warmly welcomes visitors with Christmas illuminations with the theme of "Hearty". Also, illuminations on zelkova tree lines, which used to be a seasonal tradition in winter, have been revived with a new design for the first time in the last eleven years. They tell the early arrival of the Christmas season as a representative landmark at Omotesando.

In the main building arranged along with the theme of "White Forest", various decorations are placed including various trees and reindeers. Omotesando Hills' representative big stairwell has a shining "Mother Christmas Tree", which consists of approx. 35,000 Swarovski Crystal and white strings. The 15.5-meter high tree is located in the center of the White Forest and the effects of lights and music invite the viewers to the magical world. Other decorations can be seen in the whole building including the entrance hall and corridors. The "White Forest" has been born at Omotesando Hills.

On Decemer 11 (Fri), Omotesando H.I.S. Skating Theater will open at Space O (B3F in the main building). This is the first skate rink at Omotesando where visitors can enjoy skating along with the effects of lights, movies and sounds. In addition, around Christmas time, choirs and special live artists will be held at the big stairwell and kids' workshops will open at Kids' Forest, where they will learn how to make Christmas ornaments.

[ Omotesando H.I.S. Illuminations Bell Symphony ]
Illuminations at Omotesando, which ran for eight years (1991-1998), was known as one of the first light-ups in the nation. The event will be revived for the first time in eleven years with a new design. Omotesando has been promoting fun-filled events for the visitors.

Collaboration of plants and lights "Bridge of Plants", Plant-installation by Makoto Azuma

ARK Hills, which has been enhancing the harmonization of city and green, will have green sashes, produced with the theme of a "link" between city and nature by an enthusiastic flower artist Makoto Azuma. Although these plants will never grow together in nature, they expand the roots here sharing the same sunlight as they grow bigger. As they grow towards spring, these green objects planted in winter shows different shapes each time of visit. Its absolute existence is appealing to the relationship between city and green.

[ Night Venus - All love from the heavens - ]

The main theme is "love". This year's illuminations consist of four zones, which are designed based on the image of endless love and hopes of people.

■Aurora Curtain: the entrance - Fountain Square
"Aurora Curtain" will be placed between the entrance and the Fountain Square.
Aurora, a goddess of the dawn in Roman mythology, is the symbol that announces the arrivals of the lights of intelligence and creativity. The energy of the light of "Aurora" will lead people to the Fountain Square while changing its colors gradually.

■Opening of Venus: the Fountain Square
The love of Venus, a goddess of love and beauty in Roman mythology, covers the square with the shining lights of a skyful of stars. Any kinds of love (lovers, family, friendship, peace and bonds) will fill people with feelings of happiness. At the monument in the center, you can see the silhouette of a heart shape from some angles.

■ Spes's White tree (a tree of hope): Olive Plaza
Spec is a goddess of hope in Roman mythology. A 5-meter white tree, which is hung from the ceiling, points its top at the sky with higher hopes. It looks as if the universe is pure white and extends endlessly.

■A fortune's planet(A lucky star of Fortuna): Olive Plaza - Church Square, Fountain Square - Olive Plaza
Fortuna (origin of an English word "fortune") is a goddess of fortune in Roman mythology. In the myth, Fortuna learned that people never have enough happiness while riding on the globe (sphere) that represents destiny. Many spheres expressing that the happiness is eternal are shining at the venue.

The Shanghai World Financial Center also provides illuminations following last year. Total of 260,000 blue and white LEDs are placed flower gardens and trees at the lower levels of the building and a newly opened planted area on the open deck on the 2nd floor. With the total area of 800m², the beautiful winter illuminations are arranged.
