Tokyo, November 16, 2015 - Mori Building, a leading urban developer, announced today that Minoru Mori, former Chairman and CEO of Mori Building, was presented posthumously with the Lynn S. Beedle Lifetime Achievement Award by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) on November 13. The award recognizes extraordinary contributions to the advancement of tall buildings and urban environments during the professional careers of individuals. Minoru Mori is the first Japanese person to receive the award.

David Mallot, CTBUH Chairman, comments: "There are but a handful of people one encounters in a lifetime who have the ability to shape the world according to their vision. Minoru Mori was such a person. He saw architecture as a stage where the theatre of life would play out. We hope to honor his legacy of the 'vertical garden city' - an urban way of life which combines commerce, culture, and the environment - a vision carried on by the important work of Mori Building and by others he inspired."

Yoshiko Mori, a director of Mori Building and the longtime wife of Minoru Mori, comments: "Minoru Mori asked himself what the ideal city should be and then had the extraordinary vision and will to realize this ideal. He remained passionate about developing cities, firmly believing in the concept of tall buildings creating more ground space for people to enjoy vibrant and enriched lives. Roppongi Hills, one of his masterpiece projects as an exceptional global model for city development, continues to attract visitors from all over the world. I'm truly delighted and honored to receive such a prestigious award."

In 2009, Mori Building's Shanghai World Financial Center received the CTBUH's award for Best Tall Building Worldwide.
