From April 2008, the ARK Gardening Club and the Roppongi Hills Gardening Club, which are managed by Mori Building Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO Minoru Mori), will be consolidated and reorganized, and start anew as the "Hills Gardening Club". This club is a unique community of citizens who voluntarily participate in the "greening" of the urban environment through participation in gardening activities that utilize the open "green" areas of Mori Building facilities as their stage.
Established in 1997, the ARK Gardening Club comprised approximately 100 members who mainly resided in the vicinity of ARK Hills. Under the guidance of a master gardener, the club, which is virtually autonomous in its operation and management, participated in a variety of gardening activities and maintained greenery in the area. Inspired by the success and achievements in ARK Hills, the Roppongi Hills Gardening Club was established in April 2005 and has been playing an active role in its community. Now with the aim of expanding both the scope and area of gardening club activities and contributing to further community building, the two clubs have been merged to form the Hills Gardening Club. Through its support for these gardening club activities and by encouraging participation by more people in the building the "Hills" - cities where the urban and natural environment can coexist, Mori Building hopes to contribute to the formation of communities that foster the greening of the urban areas. In the future, the company will continue to play an active role in building eco-friendly, attractive cities through its urban redevelopment projects.

Based on our "Vertical Garden City" concept, Mori Building has positioned the "Environment and Greenery" as one of our primary missions, and has endeavored to create a richer urban environment through measures such as the creation of more open space through vertical redevelopment and promoting as much "greening" of building rooftops as possible. However, the support of Mori Building for gardening club activities and various events is not only the pursuit of "greening" as an environmental measure. By providing activities and a rich green environment where urban dwellers can enjoy nature and the sense of the four seasons in the heart of the city, "greening" also contributes to the formation of urban communities.
In recognition of Mori Building's continued promotion of urban greening through development and its contribution to the formation of communities as exemplified by ARK Hills, which was acclaimed as one of the world's leading eco-friendly projects, the company was awarded the National ENERGY GLOBE AWARD Japan by the environmental organization Energy Globe, headquartered in Austria in 2006. In 2008, the company was also awarded the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Prize by the 17th Global Environment Awards.
