In recognition of its continued efforts to promote the "greening" of urban areas through redevelopment, Mori Building Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Minoru Mori) has been awarded the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Prize by the 17th Global Environment Awards (organized and sponsored by FujiSankei Communications Group with the support of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.)
An award presentation ceremony is to be held on April 22 (Tuesday) at the Meiji Kinenkan.

With the aim of promoting the harmonious coexistence of industrial development and the global environment, the Global Environment Awards were created in 1992 with the special cooperation of the WWF Japan (Honorary president: His Imperial Highness Prince Akishino) as a system to encourage and recognize eco-friendly activities by the private sector. The awards recognize companies, autonomous regional/local organizations, educational institutions, citizen's groups, and other entities which develop products, services and/or technologies that contribute to the realization of a sustainable "recycling" society, engage in research into social systems for the 21st century that promote activities or projects to protect the environment, raise awareness of global environment issues, or have made remarkable achievements that serve as a model for society.

Based on our "Vertical Garden City" concept, Mori Building has positioned the "Environment and Greenery" as one of our primary missions, and has endeavored to create a richer urban environment through measures such as the creation of more open space through vertical redevelopment and promoting as much "greening" of building rooftops as possible. Mori Building was recognized for not only helping to shape a comfortable urban environment where the city and nature can coexist in harmony and contributing to the alleviation of the "heat island" phenomenon, but also contributing to the formation of "green-inspired" communities in the city through its establishment of Gardening Clubs in which private citizens take an active role in greening the community.

Mori Building is honored to receive this award, and shall continue to play an active role in building eco-friendly, attractive cities through its urban redevelopment projects in the future.
