MIDORINOTOKYO-BOKIN fund-raising campaign was established by the Tokyo Metropolitan government with the aim of undertaking a wide scope of activities to "green" the Tokyo environment including transforming the trash island in Tokyo Bay into a green "Umi no Mori" (Forest of the Ocean), increasing tree-lined streets to create a more refreshing cityscape, planting lawns in schoolyards where school children can enjoy more play and learning, and planting of forests that generate less pollen.

As one of the missions of Mori Building is the building of cities that put a priority on the "Environment & Greenery", the company has given its wholehearted approval to this fund-raising activity to "restore and revitalize greenery in Tokyo", and called on the employees throughout the group to lend their support for fundraising, and the employees who agree with the aims of the campaign have each voluntarily cooperated in the raising of funds. The "matching gift(1)" approach that combines the involvement of employee participation and corporate donations was praised as a very meaningful and fresh approach to contributing to social improvement through the collaborative efforts of enterprises and their employees.

In recent years, tackling the improvement of the environment has become of global importance. Mori Building has endeavored to enrich urban environments based on its concept of the Vertical Garden City which advocates the "greening" of not only the open space created by such vertical development but also building rooftops as much as possible. In the future, the company will continue to take proactive steps to build cities and communities that are environmentally friendly and attractive places to live and work, and will contribute to further enhancing the charm and beauty of the capital city Tokyo.

1 "Matching gift" is a method for giving back to society that involves the collaborative efforts of the employees who are the constituent members of the company and the corporate entity itself. This tool was broadly employed by American enterprises in the late sixties, and consists of having the company "match" or exceed the amount of donations voluntarily made or collected by the employees, and represents a way to support increased social contributions by employees.
