Mori Building Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Minoru Mori) and Mori Bldg. Ryutsu System Group (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Minoru Mori) have announced the closure of Laforet Harajuku Matsuyama (located in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture).
The oldest sections of this building (those built in Phase 1 of the construction project) were constructed in 1968, pursuant to previous earthquake-resistance standards. Based on the results of a recent earthquake preparedness inspection, Mori Building has determined that, for ensuring the safety of its tenants and their customers, it could no longer continue operation of this building.
Over the many years since its opening in December 1983, Laforet Harajuku Matsuyama has earned the support of its customers by serving as a trendsetting fashion center for the younger generation in the Shikoku area.
Although plans call for a target closing date of January 31, 2008, this date may be brought forward based on future consultation with tenants and other related parties.
Following the closure of Laforet Harajuku Matsuyama, future plans for the site, including the possible construction of a new facility, will be considered in consultation with joint contractors and other related parties, including the community and government agencies.
