Tokyo, August 29, 2024 -- Mori Building Co., Ltd., Japan's leading urban landscape developer, announced today that it has completed construction of Toranomon Hills' Glass Rock, a commercial complex comprising four stories above ground and three below, with a total floor area of approx. 8,800 m2. The building, which is scheduled to officially open in the spring of 2025, will join four existing towers as the latest enhancement of Toranomon Hills's growing role as a major international hub and global business center.
The redevelopment of Toranomon Hills and its surroundings is a major undertaking managed the Toranomon 1&2-chome District Urban Redevelopment Association, of which Mori Building is a member.
Glass Rock is located in the center of Toranomon Hills. T-Deck, a 20-meter-wide pedestrian walkway between Mori Tower and Station Tower, runs directly through Glass Rock. The building is also connected to the spacious Station Atrium, which is the entrance to Toranomon Hills Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line. Glass Rock was designed by OMA, the same international architectural firm that designed Station Tower.
Glass Rock will be home to an exciting collection of seven restaurants and retail stores, expanding Toranomon Hills' total retail facilities to some 170 establishments covering approx. 26,000 m2. Since the opening of the Mori Tower in 2014, Toranomon Hills has introduced popular retail facilities such as Toranomon Yokocho (26 restaurants) in the Business Tower and T-Market (27 stores/restaurants) in the Station Tower, which welcome guests daily from 7am to 11pm.
Glass Rock is expected to attract an increasingly diverse range of visitors to the Toranomon area by richly satisfying the needs and expectations of global players.
Toranomon Hills, a gateway connecting central Tokyo with the world, offers a multi-layered network of elevated, surface and underground infrastructure for pedestrians, vehicles and mass transit. The super-high-rise Mori Tower is innovatively integrated with Loop Route No. 2, one of Tokyo's major thoroughfares. The Business Tower, completed in 2020, offers convenient underground connections to Toranomon Hills Station (Hibiya Line) and Toranomon Station (Ginza Line), as well as a large (approx. 1,000 m2) bus terminal. The Station Tower, completed in 2023, houses the lively Station Atrium and wide T-Deck spanning Sakurada-dori Avenue (National Route 1). Glass Rock, connected directly to the Station Atrium and T-Deck, will further strengthen mobility and convenience in the Toranomon Hills area.
Going forward, Mori Building will continue to contribute to Tokyo's global magnetism by steadily enhancing Toranomon Hills' role as a full-fledged international hub and global business center.
