Now on exhibit at the Mori Art Museum, a symbol of Roppongi Hills as a cultural heart of the city, is “The Architecture of Sou Fujimoto: Primordial Future Forest,” from July 2, 2025 (Wed) to November 9, 2025 (Sun).

Sou Fujimoto (born in 1971 in Hokkaido, Japan) has design offices in Tokyo, Paris and Shenzhen, and is engaged in projects all over the world, ranging from private homes to universities, commercial facilities, hotels, and multi-purpose complexes. Having designed the Grand Ring for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, which is currently u being held, and also being appointed the Expo’s Site Design Producer, he is currently one of the most celebrated architects in Japan.

For Fujimoto, this exhibition is his first large-scale solo exhibition. It provides a comprehensive introduction of his works in eight sections, from work in his early years to projects currently underway in various countries around the world, offering an overview of his journey of approximately 30 years as well as the features and philosophy of his architecture.

Today, architecture and cities are being called upon to play a bigger role than ever before, with the need to address consideration for the environment, the continually changing relationships between people, the functions for connecting fragmented communities, and the influence that technological developments are having on people’s lives. By looking at what Fujimoto is putting into practice, we welcome visitors to join us in thinking about how architecture can change our lives in times such as these.
